I am a type 1 diabetic and have been for 17 years now and know for a fact that high blood glucouse is not life threatening. LOW blood sugars are!!! I have been down to 15 recently and almost been in comas several times. I have even wrecked my car going into work.

They most likely were going to keep her anyways to get her blood sugars under control. And that can (especially for a child), take some time.

I was in the hospital ER several months ago and could feel I was going into LOW sugars and called for a nurse. I had been there all day. NO sugars checked, no food. But at least I alerted someone so that I could get some juice and they checked my sugars.

Well anyway, I hope your daughter's sugars get better regulated and she gets out soon. It is difficult to say the least and she is very young!!!

HOPE THEY FIND A CURE!

What is the name of your state? TX

The nurse was confronted due to the fact that no one (including doctor) was able to 'find' her.
"The nurse was confronted due to the fact that no one (including doctor) was able to 'find' her."[/QUOTE]

Wow, you kind of lost me, you say "according to me" however, I did not say ALL of those things you just said, so it shouldn't be said when filing the claim. Also, it wasn't me, I never said that it was, and yes, you are correct, BOTH of the parents did not sit in the room for the entire 4 hours without leaving, however, the child was not left in the room alone, at all. The child sat with the dad while mom left the room, so, on that note, no, the nurse did not come in while the mom was gone. Thanks everyone for their input.

I'm sorry, I was under the impression that this was a forum of adults. My apologies. When I stated that: no one (including doctor) was able to 'find' her(the nurse)---I assumed that it was understood that in order for someone to not be found, someone actually had to be looking for them.
And when I stated that the parents did not sit in the room for the entire 4 hours without leaving (which means someone left), I assumed that since I already stated the nurse could not be found that it was clear that the parents were not touring the hospital.

You are right though, I was not directly clear, I should not have assumed anything, much less the fact that since I stated that the nurse could not be found it should not have been assumed that she was actually being looked for.
Nonetheless, the 7 year old is home, doing fine, complaints have been filed with the proper departments, the doctors and nurses on the admitting floor have given their written statements (about the fact that nothing that needed to be done in the ER was done and the admitting dr (again) quoted his opinion that there was a delay of care, clearly documented).
So, thank you everyone for your help, opinions and what not, it is much appreciated. I am confident that proper steps have been made to proceed. Thanks again, time to close this soap opera as it appears to have steered off course a bit, but that tends to happen with anonymity, the point of this original post has been made. Thanks again.
