Dad was charged with neglect. His Friend is charged with endangerment. Kid had intake today and this is dad's determination. It revolves around a well documented incident.

Mom and Dad are getting divorced (children) and I'm a friend of dad's.

Can you have one of the parents sign up please? It'll be much easier to try and figure it out if it's coming straight from the horse's mouth (so to speak).

Thanks!

They each have lawyers. Even the kids.

That's my next question. The youngest has a gal for the incident. Will the gal consider all the children in the divorce proceedings, and not just this case?

If all the legal parties have proper legal help you should not be posting this here. You have been a member long enough to know better.:)

I think we have it figured out, from the state statute. He was charged with neglect, and received a "notice of child maltreatment determination". Those are completely different words so he just wants to make sure he knew what he was up against for his appeal. I have learned the exact wording matters.

He is pretty computer illiterate, and obviously this isn't something he can ask the kids for help with. He is away from his home during the week for work and the temporary court order. The system is failing these children, horribly. The child involved needs help, but mom had refused to take him to the counseling sessions. She is pitting the child against dad.

I watch these kids one day a week, and because he (child) is so out of control, I even called his caseworker for some guidance when he puts himself in danger and all I got was, "don't touch him." But, do call 911 if he hurts himself. Okay - that does not help. I have a friend that works with DCF and she tells me the same thing. I complained that we are seeking help, are given none, yet the state is very quick to judge when things go wrong. All I get is a *shrug*.

I do appreciate all I have learned from this forum and will continue to echo it to dad. Thanks again.

Wow. The system just may be working. Mom and Dad had a mandatory meeting. They (mom and dad) are now in the system again, with both being held accountable. Kids must receive counseling and their guardian has full access. Not great, but not necessarily bad.

Thank you for all the advice you have given out since I started checking this site. I think you are mean many times (dad hates the OG effect) but we’ve have made your mantras, ours. “Best interest of the children,” “Parenting choice,” “Okay/Alrighty then.”

The serenity prayer helps, too. There may be hope after all. Thanks.
