What is the name of your state? ny
I'm not sure what fraud would fall under but i'll ask my question anyway. I got on welfare after my son's father was incarcerated, but his name wasn't on the birth certificate at the time so i stated that i didn't know of his whereabouts. After a few months we got his name on the birth certificate so he would have proof of having a child but i never put his name on the welfare application, i kept using the old birth certificate for recertification. Unfortunately now we are in a nasty custody battle and he is stating that i commited fraud and i read up on a couple of welfare fraud situations and my situation doesn't appear to be fraud. I mean it's not like he ever worked or given me any type of child spport and i don't work either. So i guess my question is, did i commit fraud and if so how much trouble will i be in??
