What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Missouri

Quick question, do local school authorities have the legal right to police reports involving current students & concerning an incident unrelated to school, away from school, off school hours (i.e. Minor in possesion ticket at a students house on Saturday evening). Shouldn't the minors name be omited?

I am the parent and am not able to obtain a copy of the police report myself.

Thank you in advance.

The school police ususally works in conjuction with local law enforcement. In cases like these the minor's name would not be omitted.

Why are you opposed to the school authorities getting this information. As a parent I would want the school to know exactly who the drug dealers and users are.

My son received a Minor in Possesion (alcohol) ticket at another students house on a Saturday evening. The school principal has the police report which he was so proud to read to me (with a smirk on his face).

I attempted to get a copy from the police myself and was told, even as their parent, I could not obtain it because it involved a minor and was under investigation.

I am struggling understanding how a school would obtain police report with my MINOR sons information.

Thaks in advance for any "HELPFUL" info.

We told you how and why, now, get your son into some drug counselling. You really need to deal with the root cause of the problem and stop focusing on the noise.

Did you ask the police that? or the principal?

If the report was taken by the police and someone gave a copy to the school principal when it didn't happen on school grounds, then it sounds like there's a violation there. I would talk to the police ombudsman to express my concerns.

I did ask the principal and they just quickly changed the subject. Like I said before, the police would not release the report because it involved a minor and was under investigation.

I am just really puzzled how the school attained this report when the incident has -zero- to do with school.

Can you answer why or what legal reason for the release of this to the school? It actually has no involvement with the school whatsoever.
How do you know that? I might suggest a bit of dry reading such as the school code.

A school's best partner is the local police department. When they partner in this manner crime is stopped before it reaches the school.

CDW Java should be around shortly and he might be able to shed a bit more light on the subject.

I'll try again:
