hope all are safe and healthy. thank you for taking the time to answer my question.
i have a 9 year old kid that up until 2 weeks ago was staying with me 3 nights a week (Sunday thru Wednesday) and with his mother the rest of the week. due to the covid 19 situation and her parents leaving the state, the mother decided that she wants to change the schedule. she decided that she is not going to follow the schedule we have had and keep our son with her until i agree to her schedule. we were never married and didn't go to court to have a custody agreement. i would like to know what my options are?

thank you
GB

As you have no custodial order Mom kinda holds all the cards. What is the schedule Mom want to implement?

ASAP you should file for a custody order through court. Court order's are everyone's friend.

how do i go about filing it? can i get it done with out a lawyer? this is really not right as this schedule would have been ok with her if she were still working. and to keep my son as a hostage. something is not right.

You have two options:

1) Agree with mom's schedule
2) Take mom to court to establish custody and a parenting schedule and hope that the judge agrees with your schedule rather than mom's.

Why does your ex's parents leaving the state make a difference? Did she move out of state with them?
