What are my rights if my car was towed from my property for no good reason?
I own a residence which caught on fire. Due to the fire, my family and I were displaced out of state. Within a week of our being gone, the city's code enforcement had my van towed out of my yard due to it not having current registration. However, I have proof of current registration and have sent the proof to them. A current tag was on the van but they are saying that there wasn't one on it. The vehicle was a running, operating vehicle with current insurance and tag. They still say that I have to pay tow fees and storage fees to get my vehicle back. What can I do?
