Daughter and baby had been going to maternal grandmother's house for occasional visits. Maternal grandmother has a history of drug addiction but has been clean for over 5 years, works and raises her youngest child and appears to be a pretty decent human being and loving mom and grandma. Unfortunately, an Uncle lives there who attacked dad and choked him about a month ago. We did a background check and found out said Uncle is a wanted felon with a current warrant and has a long history of violent crimes including attempted murder x 3. Both mom and dad have agreed not to have the baby at maternal grandmother's due to the uncle's issues since we got the background check back. The baby's Dad's family has such a heavy history of drug addiction and criminal activity, both my daughter and the baby's dad are trying to move past it. That's why baby's dad is sleeping on his paternal grandma's couch right now instead of living at his maternal grandmother's, where he has his own room.
"Maternal grandmother" means your daughter's grandmother. Is that really what you meant to say?

I'm sorry, I meant the baby's Dad's maternal grandmother. His (baby's dad's) mom lives with his maternal grandmother, and baby's dad's father lives with paternal grandmother. So basically, baby's grandma lives with her mom (maternal great-grandma) and baby's grandpa lives with his mom (paternal great-grandma.) There are a lot of family members on both sides lol

I gotcha now. This would be more properly said as the baby's paternal great-grandmother.

I didn't read the whole thread, so if this has been asked I apologize...Have the parents been to parenting classes? If not, it would do them good. If you can afford it perhaps you could cover the cost for mom and dad.

Hi Blue, we are waiting for parenting classes to start. Mom and Dad will take them together. I will be providing transportation and child care for them.
