no of course she dint get the girls concent ,dint know there was such a law, if she did get it, the girl wouldnt have talked, or she would have lied , a law like that sort of defeats the purpose dont it? some laws seem useless, especially in cases like that. when you need evidence your not alowed to use it.how about a wittness? my mom heard the whole thing too. and the girl screamed at my mom, in person.
she did finally get free legal help, so now its up to her. I have no idea what she has done today about that.
the police say they cant do a thing unless she has a paper saying she has custody, thats what they said anyway.
I wish the school system would teach laws before kids get out of school, they graduate with no knowlege of any laws.
at least I have shown her this web site, she can search posts if she wants. I am sure others have had the same problem. my sister is only 25 a lot younger than me. some of this is her own fault of course, she dint head the warnings. but the kids suffer so that why I try to help out .
thanks to all of you again.

It's called wire tapping...and what your sister did was a Federal Crime. Please tell her to destroy the tape before she ends up in jail! Does anyone in your family watch the news? Remember that "little" Linda Tripp issue? You know...the one that almost got President Clinton Impeached?? It was on the news for a few minutes one day....

No one cares whether you think the law is useless or not. It is as it is. PA is a two-party state, and what your sister did was illegal.

and the girl screamed at my mom, in person.
So what? Your mother's not a party to the situation.

I wish the school system would teach laws before kids get out of school, they graduate with no knowlege of any laws.
Well, I wish the school system would teach proper English skills before kids get out of school, but kids apparently graduate with no knowledge of those, either. As evidenced by both your and your sister's command of the language.

No, actually the law does NOT defeat the purpose. People seem to think they can record phone conversations all they want. WRONG!! Not to mention, just because someone "pops off" on you does not necessarily mean it qualifies as phone harassment. Phone harassment is alot more than that. Plus, depending on the type of phone you used, it could have violated federal law (I'll just say if you used a cordless or cell phone...busted!!!). That's in addition to the state statute pointed out to you by several people already.
