Went to get a NC license reissued after it had expired and was told that I had to pay for a NSF check that was written back on 8-3-2001 before I can get my license.
I called the DOT sate office to find out the details on the check and how to make payment. I was told it was written out by my wife and that it as insurance related. Thought it was odd for an insurance check to bounce and still have a valid policy? Called Ins agent and got letter stating that they never have received a bad check from me in 2001 as well as a July and Aug bank statement that shows no bounced check for the amount in question. Does NC DOT have to provide me upon request detail verification of debt? My Ins company and my bank have no record such issue.
I don't want to pay if its not mine or if it is, and was some how paid later to avoid Ins being cancelled...dont want to pay it again.
