I have finally figured out the mess caused by my Federal Income Taxes, and found that even though I only made about $7000, I owe about $1000 in taxes!? Could this be correct? I only had 2 1099 MISC forms and a very small W-2. My parents claimed me since I was still in college, so I got in trouble with taking any deductions there
However, how do I file local and state taxes for New York? My permanent address was in Manhattan, but I worked in Long Island and NYC. Do I have to file local taxes for Long Island AND New York City? Where can I find info on filing NYS/NYC taxes? Does anyone have any suggestions/help they could give me?
