I don't know. I did not have it in front of me the actual third party statement. If they provided no information about the trust then it seems that the law firm did make the comment.

In any case I at least with my preliminary review of this stand by my points that even if he was just quoting his client it is still improper using the Attorney in the court room scenario I used to counterpoint the point that it was not simply just a your a moron statement.

Lawyers don't just quote clients they advocate and represent them. He was not quoting him for my benefit but for my fathers.

To expand upon the lawyer in the court room scenario.

Your honor after you reached your opinion my client has just informed me that you have disability something you did not inform us of and my client also informed me that you and your mother are pond scum.

I think we have grounds for an appeal.

Sarcasm

Someone countered that judges and lawyers in a court room is different then and attorney making a improper comment to the public. I counter pointed with that is not exactly true because according to Attorney codes lawyers are prohibited from making improper comments in the court room and out of the court room to the general public.

And again I did not divorce my father I did not start divorce proceedings or any judicial proceedings against him. My mother and father were 2 years old when they divorced so it?s not like he was ever even really a parent. I was the only child. Perhaps some of you have not ever had a father. But to here that comment is like coming from a stranger not from a parent.
We understand that your feelings were hurt, but doesn't make it slander. You have asked a question, and several here have tried to tell you that you are wrong. Fine. If you don't believe us then take this to your attorney and ask him/her. Good luck with that.

By the way, you never did answer rmet's question. Also, I doubt that your parents were 2 when they got divorced.

The only thing hard about it was the OP's avoidance. And, OP guesses he's disabled??? What kinda crap is that!!
Personally, I'm done talking to the OP. He asked for advice, we gave him advice, and he doesn't want to listen. He just wants to hear someone agree with him, and overwhelmingly all posters in this thread do NOT agree.

Gee, I wonder why that is?

I am on SSDI so yes I guess I am a person with a disability.
Then there is no slander because you are disabled, for all we know, "Pond Scum" is your father's pet name for you, after all "Poop Face" is a favorite name for brothers to lovingly call each other.

HOWEVER, since you are disabled, you may have other options re your inheiritance.

What is the nature of your disability? Do you had an emotional disability or ASD? If he said you are a liar and that is within the scope of your disability, it is with some, then you may have a cause of action, depending on what the will/trust said and the laws of RI not FL, you have to fight this in the correct jurisdiction.

The statement says disabled and pond scum. All the comments here just quote one or the other disabled or pond scum. Saying if they just said disabled then it is not slander or disabled then its not slander. All general case law on defamation says that if they make a comment statement which leads to the conclusion that someone has a loathsome disease then it is defamation.

They are lawyers why not just use some generic term like that no one ever even heard of like Forumguest has been treated for Antidistrinmnbyrt, at some point in his life, and my client and him disagree on what the facts are in the case and my client had divorced his mother. That is much more professional then I am disabled and all I do is lie and by the way he and his morther are pond scum.

Any further discussion about my disability is none of your business, and I only discuss it with those that are qualified to discuss the nature and reason for my disability.
