So I'm wanting to grow a legal amount of cannabis in my backyard and wanted to ask if it's legal for a cop to enter my property without a warrant? Does possessing said plants make it probable cause for a judge to authorize a warrant? Another situation is if I do voluntarily allow the police to go onto my backyard so I can show him that I'm abiding by the law will I have given him/her the right to enter my house?

This is in Oregon.

Is your backyard open to view from public property (e.g., sidewalk)?

Then the police would need a warrant.

I recommend you do NOT invite the police onto your property or into your home.
Thanks for the quick reply! I wanted to add also that my backyard is 7 acres of wood with it being fenced in with non privacy wire. But the front of my house is full privacy fencing(this is the side where public road is).

Okay.

The advice remains the same. You do not have to invite police onto your property.

Apologize ahead of time for my doodle, it was quite fun making. :D The only possible way for anyone to see is if they climbed through thick brushes and trees as described above the gates. But lets say worst case scenario, we got a nosy cop on our hands. What then? Installing privacy fencing all over my property isn't cost efficient so I haven't considered it.

Nice doodle. :)

Again, the police need a warrant to search your property. You do not have to allow them on your property without one.

If you are following the recreational marijuana laws, you should not fear a warrant should one issue. But I would not give the police any reason to get one.

The law allows you to grow 4 plants per 21+ year old in the home. If you have a small house that looks like it could hold 3 or 4 adults and your greenhouse is visible from off of your property and look like it has 50 plants that will be a problem.

The problem would be if there is evidence of commercial growing and sales, if unlicensed. There is a limit of 4 plants per residence.
