hi everyone. i'm new here.. i just had a quick question.
i'd like to point out up front that i understand that i have no legal right whatsoever to the child in question.. i just want to know what might happen.
the child that i'm referring to is my baby cousin. who isn't much of a baby anymore.. but though out her whole life, i've played kind of a big sister / mentor role in her life. she's always come to me when she felt like she couldn't go to her parents and i've been a MAJOR part of her life since the day she was born. i have a very special relationship with this child who turned 17 years old in april.
i have a very close relationship with the child's mother.. my aunt..
i have an ok relationship with the child's father..
here's the question part of my post::
i was recently married and moved out of the country. i'm now living in ireland with my husband and haven't seen my little cousin in seven months.. since i went home for her birthday.. when i was there, i was showing her pictures of my new home and we were talking about how beautiful it is in ireland and she begged me to let her come visit over spring break.
of course i'd love to have her, but that isn't my decision.
it's her parents'..
at seventeen, her mother and i feel that she's old enough to fly over by herself, but if her father has an issue with it, i've offered to fly home and escort her myself..
i know that dad probably is going to have and equal say in this.. even though spring break is supposed to be my aunt's time.. (her parents live close to each other and she lives one week with one and the next week with the other, spring break falls on mom's week)..
i don't know how it's going to play out.. my aunt wants clear everything with her ex.. but if dad says no, my aunt says she's going to check into wheather or not she can legally still let little cuz come visit..
i'm just wondering does anyone know anything on this subject?
if dad says no.. could mom still let her come?
