My wife's Brother is suffering from Parkinson's and he has needed to go into a Nursing Home.
He is very mentally aware but his speech is not very good and he is also unable to write or sign anything.
Problem being he has not taken out an LPA and is now unable to sign one, what can we advice him to do to get around this problem?

Thanks for any advice
What is the name of your state?

You blew off the name of the state so we can't give you specific information.

In many states, there are procedures for the mentally competent yet physically disabled to execute documents like this. In some states, for instance, a notary public can sign if given the authority by the person. Further, there are probably multiple documents you want to execute at this point in addition to the power of attorney. Specific medical powers/advanced medical directives and wills are probably also worth ahving.

THere are attorneys who specialize in all of this who will know how to proceed. You should help your brother-in-law obtain one of these.
