Refund from car dealer
Hey, I have read all the post regarding this post. This happened to me about 6 months ago on a large Yacht. Needless to say, I bid on this item on EBAY and the winning bid was $1,345,750. I was required to send a 10% down payment to secure the transaction and the remaining balance had to be paid within 10 days.
The following day after I wired the 10% deposit, ($134,575) I was laid off from my current position due to a departmental restructure. Therefore causing me to back out on this purchase. This was no fault of the seller and even though the seller offered me more time in order to pay and even offered financing, I had to suck it up and accpet the fact that my deposit was gone unless I followed through with the purchase.
Did you read the user agreement from EBAY when registering? Prob not, as mot people dont. Just sing up and start bidding. By you ending his auction for a buy it now price, you entered into a legal binding agreement to purchase that car. Just like I did with the boat.
Consider yourself lucky that it was only $500 and not almost 134k. This is how these sellers on ebay make their living. It is by no means their fault that your backing out. You could have cost him another buyer since you ended the auction. He did not end the auction, you did, with the intention to purchase the vehicle. The legal binding agreement.
If you were to leave negative feedback because of this, it would be a bad move on your part. I looked at his company and at his feedback and have to say, 100% positive feedback on EBAY selling cars is remarkable and not many sellers on EBAY have this.
With all that being said, if his feedback was 60% and he was making a habbit of taking peoples deposits and not refunding them or trying to rip people off, then yes, I would say go after him. But how can you even think about leaving negative feedback or getting your $500 back when YOU WERE THE ONE WHO STOPPED HIS AUCTION AND BACKED OUT.
My suggestion would be to, MAN UP and quit trying to blame everyone else when the person you should be blaming is you.
Just make sure you learn from it. I dont know how old you are, but Im 65 years old and trust me, this wont be the last time you make a mistake. Just make sure you learn from it and I would contact EBAY and Paypal and close your claim. Again, this was not his fault...
Just my opinion... Good luck...Johnny
