What is the name of your state? Pa

So I was cleaning out my car today in my driveway which is in an alley and I had my music in my car on as I'm 18 and I enjoy that still. I have a subwoofer in my car so the base is quite intense and fairly loud. My neighbor who is also a part of City council so he thinks he owned everyone came out of his house and told me my music was too loud and started throwing all these threats at me how he could call the police right now if he wanted to. although he wasn't the nicest I politely apologized and turn my music off completely I asked him for the exact law and questioned him as I believe the sound ordinance in my town is 9 p.m. on a Friday night. Is there any law or anything incriminating about playing music from my driveway on private property even if you can hear it? I don't plan on doing it anyway because I want to avoid drama but I'm just genuinely curious?

There are noise ordinances in most areas, yes. If the decibel levels are too high (perhaps somewhere around 55-65?), you can be ticketed.

You can call your city or township clerk to find the law under which you could be fined.

You were nice (and smart) to turn down the volume when asked.

Here is a picture of my ordinance. I was playing music around 5 p.m. was I breaking any law according to my ordinance? I guess what I'm trying to ask was my neighbor just acting like a power hungry butt head or did he lawfully have purpose

It’s quite clear that between 8 am and 10 pm, if the the audio output was plainly audible from a distance greater than 50 feet, you were in violation of the ordinance.

Was the neighbor more than 50 feet from you when he claimed to hear your audio? If so, it appears the neighbor was correct regardless of whether he was being a butthead or not

I am also going to add that intense base can actually cause serious pain or discomfort to people listening to it who do not normally listen to base like that. So, if your neighbor was being a butt head it might have been because he was in pain.

You should make it so the subwoofers can be turned off. Bass carries much farther than the high pitched sounds. You have a 50 ft. limit during the day.
