My original question was:

What can she do to prevent this from every happening again?
I'm talking about the 3 Hour detention for blood and medical tests AFTER the field sobriety tests.
There is nothing she can do to prevent the police from taking the steps they feel are necessary in a DUI investigation and arrest. Short of never driving, there is no way to preempt them.

If you are looking for some magical phrase or action that will prevent the police from detaining or arresting someone they suspect of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, then you will be disappointed as you will find that no such answer exists.

Considering the advice I have received I should tell her:

-Don't drive while tired:
-Even though you don't drink and drive, carry around a test device just in case.
-Get eye surgery
-Consider that you were driving erratically, even though you were not wrote up as such.
-Are you sure that a doctor has diagnosed you with ADHD?
-Always get a friend to help you check all your lights, everyday.

Please consider the saying "innocent until proven guilty". I have come here for advice and feel I have been given the run around.
Most newbies think these forums offer legal advice. (I did, too.) Few lawyers post here, and at least one of them just show up to give snarky non-legal one-liners.

Actually, this thread offered useful info, including that from people in the field. Your friend was legitimately stopped for the light violation. Because DUI's are so common, especially at that time of the night, any stopped driver will be treated with suspicion. A note from a doctor about ADHD or anything else is useless.

If your friend was perfectly clean when driving, then she will just have to accept what happened and move on. It was 3 hours, she didn't get an arrest record; just let it go.
