What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California
Accused of stealing, suspended and fired for following my manager's directive. The company appealed my umemployment and lost -( they can still appeal again ) EDD found no misconduct on my part.
Loss Prevention accused me of working with a customer to cheat them of money, which was later determined that I was not. I was forced to admit of wrongoing and sign a prommisory note. With no option to speak with counsel, I was told that if I sign these documents, I might still be able to keep my job. I was fired and now I am receiving a "Settlement Offer" from Palmer, Reifler & Associates, P.A. to pay $1,000.
Do I have a possible wrongful termination case or does this matter need to be solved in small claims court?
