How did you prove to the officer that the brake light was working? Was there a third person present to step on the brakes while you got out of the car?

Also, unless you have proof of the officer's racial bias - and proof that the ONLY reason for the stop and citation was because of your race - the race argument is a non starter.

About all you can do at this point is to try and suppress the stop ... provided the officer testifies that he did not know about your suspension until AFTER he had you stopped for the brake light. To get it suppressed you will have to prove to a court that the officer had no good cause to pull you over. In other words, to show that the officer either lied or was gravely mistaken. This will not be an easy task. If you believe it was a matter of race, then you will need an attorney (expensive) who will try to pull any complaints or personnel records relating to the office's biases or demeanor. I suppose it comes down to how much you are willing to spend in an attempt to beat the ticket.
