I'm not saying you don't have some reason to be upset but you also need to realize, unless the school wants to do something about it, you just have no recourse.

as to never have been treated like you don't exist;

don't get married. :D
Lol, I will never get married again!!

Two lessons you have evidently not learned yet:

1.) You do not get to decide how the professor teaches. It is his job to present the material in the way that he feels appropriate. It is your job to learn it. If the way he feels appropriate is not the way you want to be taught, fine. Next term sign up for a course where the professor will teach you in the way you like. That is your option - not to take legal action to force the professor to do it your way. He is the teacher. You are the student. Guess which one of you is in charge? (HINT - it isn't you)

2.) Information that you learn on your own stays with you a lot longer than information that you learn by rote and parrot back. Which may explain why your professor thinks it appropriate for YOU to study and learn it on your own. Ya think?

If you read above, I will not be attending this particular college next semester. I did learn my lesson, this college is not for me. I will gladly pay out of county fees, to attend another college, that has more reputable professors.

While I agree with the others as to the legal issues, I also agree with the OP and am appalled at the professor's choices. I understand tenure and all that, but the education model has gotten so messed up where we are talking about credits rather than learning; I can't understand how such rubbish can continue much longer.

Can you 'challenge' the course ?
I don't know if that's still done ... I challenged quite a few classes by simply taking the test (without attending class) ??

It's horrible when you love the subject & the 'teaching' makes you hate the class.
I think it's worth telling the administration (they need that feedback, even if they avoid it).
Being from NY, though, I would wonder if my complaint would affect my final grade. I have little faith in confidentiality within the unrealistic school environment.
I'd offer my feedback after I completed the class, either by challenge or full attendance.

I'm afraid there's a lot of inadequate, uninspired, and uncaring teachers.
It is best, for your sake, to learn how to obtain the knowledge you need from the material provided and sources other than the teacher. Whatever school you attend, you may encounter the same dilemma.
Good luck. Your brain and your passion will carry you past this teacher.

YES! In many schools you can still challenge a class in the manner you describe. :)
