My situation is very close to the post by "slangdo". In my case my boyfriend and I jointly own the house. An escrow account has been set up by our mortgage company. A portion of our monthly mortgage is deposited into that escrow and the mortgage company submits the payment for our tax bill from that escrow account. My boyfriend gives me his half of the mortgage directly by cash and sometimes a check and I always write the check to the mortgage company. So technically we both are paying the taxes so who gets to claim the property? I am the primary on the loan if that makes any difference.
