It all seems to have worked out well for you if your refinance was approved.

And there really is no reason for the lender to care about your finances in the future as long as you continue to make the agreed upon payments.
Yes, that's what I thought, but I wanted some kind of verification for my own sanity from people here who know a lot more about this stuff than I do.
Thanks

Once again, I find it necessary to come here to ask another question in relation to this refi and it's closing.
I have never in my life had to deal with such inept people as the ones I am dealing with in regards to this refi.

Anyway, we signed closing papers on 4/7 and our old loan was paid off and we are now set up with our new mortgage.

However, yesterday we received a UPS package with a letter inside stating that either due to the mortgage company's negligence or due to the fact that the notary had not had us do so, we now have to sign AND DATE two documents that should have been included;

Uniform Residential Loan Application
CA Per Diem Interest Charge Disclosure

Both ask for signatures and dates.

I sent an email back to the person requesting these stating that if I sign these, I will have to put the date that I am signing and not back date them to 4/7. I also told them that as far as the Loan Application is concerned, I am confident that we did fill out that form somewhere along the way...how could we have even applied for the refi if we did not!

So far, I have not heard any response from them. They are on the east coast, so while it is only 8:30am here in California, it is 11:30 there. They SHOULD have had ample time to review my email.

Am I correct in assuming I cannot sign and date my signature back to 4/7? Am I correct in assuming I must put the date on which I sign rather than the date of closing?
Am I even obligated to do anything at all since it was THEIR error?
Am I going to have to hire an attorney just to deal with this?

1. You should sign with the date you sign them. If you sign them today you sign them 4/16/21.

2. Obligated, no, but it could cause problems for you if you don't. The Uniform Residential Loan Application is in every refi package I've ever seen. It is simply memorializing things you have already communicated to the lender. The interest disclosure is just that a disclosure.

3. The only way you would ever need a lawyer because of this is if you don't sign the documents and they start the process to undo the mortgage.

Sign the damn things and send them back. This was simply an error on the part of the notary.
