wow

If you read what original question was. It stated minimal damage. Hence a lower rate company might not find this as damage. That's why I say put house in kids name so you wont have to lie. Then call another insurance company and ASK not force them to insure house. If they do homeowner is a winner. Nobody ever said get new insurance and file a new claim. I just explained a way out of it legally. And there are plenty of insurance companies that would call minimal no damage at all. If that is fraud I'm sorry. I think it's a crappy resolution but still legal. And noone is harmed cause remember you cant force an insurance company to write a policy on you. Maybe it's unethical but I think their morals went out the door when they justify spending it on medical needs. The right resolution would have been fix roof. But they didnt and they asked for advice and they got it. How you view it is your opinion but I bet it works legally. Ask to insure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hey if you wanna answer a tough one try to find the answer to my post. Being though you wanna give your opinion

The claim was for $15,000. How is that minimal damage? And, what "lower rate" insurance company is that? You haven't answered that question. So, again, do you know what the hell you're talking about? I'm not sure who talked about filing a new claim. This claim is on their record and insurance companies aren't stupid. So, what insurance company will write this risk on unrpaired damage totalling $15k? If you're going to help them, then offer helpful advice. Also, I'm not sure how becoming a renter in your own home is helping the insured. They'd need both home insurance, in the name of their kids, and renter's insurance to insure their belongings. And, how much will landlord insurance cost with a previous $15k claim? A lot more than HO insurance costs with a previous $15k claim.

If the children own the home, but the parents LIVE there, then its no longer a home insurance policy. It would be a dwelling fire policy in which the children are the landlords and the parents are the tenants, or RENTERS (if you don't understand what a tenant is). So I'm the one who brought up tenant insurance. Farmers won't insure this. Cincinnati or Greenhouse won't insure this. Once you answer the question that you've got $15k of unrepaired damage you will not get insurance outside of the state's FAIR plan. Period. Or have you been a licensed insurance agent and sold one of these policies?

I'm not calling the OP a liar. I'm stating that no insurance company considers $15k in ROOF damage minimal.
