My husband and I lived in a town for many years. He was actually born and raised there, and I lived there about 14 years, including the time we were together there. From the time we got together, we began having major issues with harassment from citizens and law enforcement. We weren't breaking laws, and we did our best to stay to ourselves, so they really had no excuse to do this, but they began cutting our resources, income, etc., and finally ran us out of town in summer of 2018. We were told what they were doing was an FBI matter, but they wouldn't listen. We tried reporting to other law enforcement agencies as well, but they wouldn't listen either. We're wondering at this point if what we were told was even true, or if it was just someone trying to throw us off to someone else because they didn't want to handle it. Is it really illegal to not only run someone out of their home, but also completely out of town? And if it is illegal, who do you report it to, and how do you make them take it seriously enough to actually do something about it?

What is the name of your state?

What state "ran you out of town?"

Do you have any idea why this happened?

What state?

You state "they began cutting our resources, income, etc. " What, exactly, do you mean?
They started destroying our reputation. Reporting crimes we never committed to law enforcement; we had to show documentation that we weren't committing crimes. People stopped wanting to help because they specifically said they didn't want the trouble. We had people at food banks even questioning us every time we would go to get food. DHS tried to terminate food stamps many times, and cut them as often as they could. Churches told us we weren't welcome because they didn't want trouble. Friends said they were told to stay away from us or they would continually be stalked by police and threatened.Etc., etc., etc.

We were told that we would never get jobs in that town, it had been fixed that way. People were proud of what they were doing and specifically telling us what they'd done right before we left.

DHS has eligibility standards -- are you telling us that you met the requirements and still had your benefits cut?

And food banks also have eligibility standards; rarely do they have so much that they can just give to everyone who asks without question.
