This has to be the biggest load of crap I have read...seriously....

last week my SISTER signed my kid up for horseback riding lessons. the gall of her! Jeez, maybe I should tell her off! maybe even take her to court, tell her to knock off being an aunty who likes to spoil her neice.LOL

If my husband decides HIS daughters want to take dance, and he sends me to sign them up, that is his right as a parent! I find it hard to believe any judge would waste thier time on this.

I would have to assume this had to do with something else and not JUST signing kids up for dance class. Either that or they have lots of time on thier hands in Va. court rooms.....

Sorry if you don't like it!! Evidently a judge here DID see a problem with the step mother signing medical liability release forms for children that she has no legal right too, which is part of the paperwork she had to complete. Not to mention that the father doesn't have "physical custody", and in our visitation/custody order on the oldest child it clearly states "that the mother is to make every day decisions concerning the child". You can assume whatever you'd like; but there wasn't another issue at hand! So if you'd like to express your opinions to the judge; I'd be more than happy to give you his name and number; as I'm sure he'd love to hear from you!

In your original post you only said she signed the kids up for dance you didnt bother to mention the true reason the judge was upset which was about the signing of the medical documents which is why you should tell the entire story when replying. Now it makes sense as to why your judge wasnt happy.

Sorry, still think its a pile of a crap.

in a regular JOINT LEGAL custody situation, which applies to our OP, both parents can do what they like for thier kids on thier time, and that includes letting people like step moms and grandma's sign kids up for stuff, take them places etc...etc......

My opinion still stands that your personal situation does not apply in this case. It was obviously much more involved then just "stepmom signed little betsy up for dance class"

SHe was not the OP, just someone who replied using thier personal situation. Which, seems a bit more invovled the simple joint legal. Also, a medical release to a dance school, which is usually a document to absolve the school of liability, is not that big a deal...unless there is some medical reason dad is unaware of....

I was talking about this particular posters first post, in it she only mentioned dance lessons and I didnt think about the medical form being a part of dance sign up's, in that case it shouldnt have been made a deal of and I agree that there has to be more to her story.

I still stand by the opinion that some of the people are making mountains out of mole hills and need to concentrate on the big issues not these trival ones. Like my mom says go through life and pick your battles to make them count, save it for the important ones. People will be more willing to take the time to listen to you when you complain.

Oh gosh Did I just type something my mother says?

Umm Fairy, if you're going to post, then include all details!!! -- which you clearly did not do.

In your original response to this, you mentioned nowhere about signing MEDICAL LIABILITY RELEASE FORMS!!! -- until NOW!!

Signing someone up for dance lessons and signing legal medical forms are apples and oranges. Hell, it's not even that close. It's more like fruits and vegetables. Also, it's not very cool to "take over" a thread with your experiences.
