Security Deposit Questions

What are the accepted rules on Security deposits in the State of North Carolina?
Must the deposit be put in an interest bearing account?
If yes, who gets the interest? Landlord or Tenant?

Thanks HomeGuru. I did that but the law seems a bit vague and doesn't really talk about interest. Any other suggestions?
