From what I'm reading everyone is just saying to suck it up over the small amount of money and that I know I have to pay it anyways, so what's the point of fighting it, ect ect.
I'm not reading that what he did was legal.
What he did was not legal if your contract with him did not specifically allow for it.

He exceeded the authorization granted him by you. He either needed to bill you separately or seek from you permission to use your account information to withdraw additional funds from your account.
