Shoddy job from kitchen contractor. Making sure I'm on good footing for small claims court?

Follow-up question: If I am granted a judgement for the value of an estimated floor repair, am I in any way obligated to then have the repair done? I am thinking I might want to live with the shoddy floor for a year or two.. its not noticeable most days and I am not excited about the prospect of tearing up my kitchen again so soon after my last project.

No, you wouldn't be forced to do the repair...but if you end up with any further damage to the same area at some point in the future, don't expect to collect again.
