We do not know at this time if it was an error on the surgeon's part. He stated he did not know what the residual was. Our only hope right now is another surgeon can identify it and repair it so my husband's constant pain subsides. I realize the difficulty in finding another surgeon and I know with the report from the surgeon stating I was going to a lawyer won't help. IF I had said anything about an attorney I would not be upset but I DID NOT!
OK...why the NEED to go to another surgeon to figure out the problem?

Why can't the current surgeon figure it out?

Any chance that the current surgeon ceased further care/treatment when he "thought" you mentioned an attorney???

COnsult the new surgeon and update us following that appointment, and DO NOT write any letter to anyone in the mean time!
Thank You for your advice. I have three letters ready to send to the new surgeon, the one that accused me and to our family doctor all of which he sent a report to with the accusations. I will not send the letters out with your advice.

He suggested another surgeon's opinion before the accusations of an attorney. He said he could refer us to another one. He stated he did not know what the residual was and if it could be the reason for my husband's pain. We went to this surgeon because he performed back surgery on my husband with great results 10 years ago.

Sometimes there is a stich that doesn't dissolve or an adhesion, good that you found someone you feel comfortable with. it's unlikely the surgeon would have referred you as easily if he felt that it was his fault, therefore he is open to a second opinion.

The pain is not at the site of entry. The pain is under his arm which is why he consulted the surgeon in the first place. The pain prior to surgery was there every now and then but now it is constant and greater. Well....the surgeon was referring him to a "buddy" of his. We found the new surgeon on our own.

There is nothing wrong with referring hm to a colleague, owuld you prefer that he refer to a stranger? You are free to seek a second opinion from any provider as long as it is in your insurance network if you have one and you have the required referal.

We do have insurance and it has already been approved. We had every intention of seeing his colleague before he made these accusations against me.
