What is the name of your state? AL

Will the IRS accept installment plans on previous years if you are not current on your taxes for the current filing period or must you become currect prior to any installment agreement acceptance?

Also there is a large amount due to the state for unpaid taxes and a final assesment has been filed for the year of 2000, the years following have no final assesment filed. What is the States next action if party fails to appeal or reach a compromise.

The IRS will often negotiate a payment plan that encompasses more than one tax year.

I don't know Alabama's proceedures for tax collection. I am not sure if we have any Alabama professionals participating on this board. You should probably contact a local tax professional.
