What is the name of your state?****land
My 10 yr old was called a retard by a girl in gym. He responded: shut up freak. The gym teacher got close enough to his face to kiss him!!!, and said, "lose the punk attitude!" He also got a "level" which is part of the schools behavior management plan. When I asked the teacher , he denied it and also admitted that he never said anything to the girl. This is a regular occurence@ this school where boys get punished immediately, and with no questions asked. Hpublic humiliation for even the slightest action is part of the daily routine in fact, my son got a level today because I did not return a note to school with my signature on it. I am tired, I haven't gotten a response to my request for an investigation of witnesses to the bully/teacher. It has been two weeks... Should I and all the other moms at this school get an education lawyer? I think we are witnessing some of the things that happen to black boys that make them statistically do worse in school than all other cultures....

You don't truly believe everything that comes out of your sons mouth, right? Kids will embellish and outright lie if they think it will help them shift the blame to other parties.

Kids whose parents lay the blame on others for their poor behavior are the kids who do statistically worse in school and in life.

**A: there is no exemption in the school policy for parents of black boys correct? Are you somehow implying somethihg racial? Is the girl white? is the teacher white? Is this a white dominated school?

Kids do make attempts to shift blame on others- this question is in reference to the adults who are supposed to be educating these children and have turned the program into gorilla tactics.

Yes, there is something discriminatory going on, no the girl was black, the teacher is white. The school is 95% black students, 99% white faculty.

**A: why are you avoiding answering my questions? And if the school uses gorilla tactics, is this a large school? Maybe the King Kong school of the M a r y land doe system?

Sorry, gotta say it.

As a former teacher, I have to take with a grain of salt (and sometimes a whole shaker of salt) and reports of teacher "bullying". I've heard complaints that a teacher was bullying the student when all the teacher did was ask why the kid's homework was not turned in on time. If the kid is acting up, it's part of the teacher's job to make the kid cut it out. Rather than worrying about whether the teacher was bullying the kid, I'd be wondering what my kid was doing that the teacher found it necessary to do ANYTHING.

I agree cbg, sometimes a whole salt lick.

Vpierre, you need to get the whole story, not just one side. Getting a lawyer may be jumping the gun.

I was raised in a very large family. If anyone came home with a complaint about a teacher my dad said he would check it out. If he found out we instigated it in anyway and he felt the punishment was appropriate, we would also receive a punishment from his as well.

Needless to say, no one was coming home with any complaints.

Why would you instantly draw an inference to racism?????????

I think I am witnessing some of the statements about racism that makes people from cultures other than black, statistically sick to their stomach...

You people just don't get it!
White teachers have no business disciplining black students!
This is a travesty of justice! Rights have been violated!
Somebody call the NAACP and Jesse Jackson!

It's good to have New Year's humor. Sorry, OP. I didn't mean your situation.

Yeah, big grains of salt for sure. I think you're dealing with a school that is trying to overcome a culture that uses abusive and profane language very aggressively and very often. Black and white and all in between. Regretfully, the only way to get many of those pottymouths to stop and shut up long enough to engage their brains is to get right in their faces. It is certainly not the preferred method of communication, but it is what the new language of the street demands.

Just be thankful it isn't 100 years ago and the hickory stick is gone. Lots of welted butts back then...both black and white...but a whole lot more respectful conversation.
