Mark, did you notice that two states are mentioned? Which state did you contact? The age of consent for both states is 16, thus, no law is broken at this point and totally up to the parents if any other charges might be brought. Whether or not a school district has policy against this unknown.

I contacted both states. I've heard back from 1.
I don't know of any school district that doesn't have a code of conduct clause in their contract.
Teaching is a position of authority and power, not to mention the need for families to be able to trust who has access to their children.

"Gee Mom, guess what my homework is tonight."

I resent the West Virginia commnets (re: inbreeding).

I feel the teacher should be investigated and removed. Give him a choice, be a teacher, or a boyfriend.

I can't believe the family is okay with it.

I agree, the parents probably have no clue that this is a more than just a friendship.

Again, thank you for all the LEGAL responses. First of all, no, I'm NOT the same person as I've passed the age of 27 a FEW years back. Second, I just wanted to let you know that I sent copies of these posts as well as others in similar situations (re - minor with an adult) to both of these persons in question. They have both agreed to hold off on the relationship for another year and a half when the student will be 18 (and graduated) so no misconceptions come up. Anyway, just wanted to let you all know.
