The teacher is still my daughters teacher. Teachers are considered to be leaders in the community. They did have sex on school property. I live in a very small town and this has really messed with my kids. Not only is she my daughters teacher, she was my best friend. Smy husband has been rosted by this community and rightfully so, but she hasnt. I cant comfortably go to that school and cannot move due to prior custody agreements with our other children. I do know teachers have a code of ethics they have to uphold in this state, I just dont know what that intels. I have a family member who is a retired educator for the state of alabama and he seems to think she should have lost her job. Right now my biggest concern is my child and that hes treated the way hes supposed to be. His life shouldnt have to adjust to where she and her friends work. Hes innocent.

OK, I still don't get it. This is your daughter's teacher, but you are worried about your son? Why not your daughter? Is the daughter with your husband, or is the son with your husband?

How do you know they had sex on school grounds?

What does the principal say about all of this?

Public school district, federal funding, teachers union, and yes, basing on personal experience with school system.
Teacher contract was NOT renewed at the end of the year.
No reason required, case closed, investigation by school resource officers was submitted to federal agency for review and audit of funds.
Small towns tend to forget that their political actions within the community structure can be harmful, until they are the ones being looked at closely, under pressure.

Generally, the bolded only happens if the teacher is non-tenured. Tenured teachers can be dismissed, but not the way you describe.

So, then you say, "We had a similar case in the town I live, where a teacher's contract was not renewed because she slept with a parent."

It doesn't guarantee that things will unfold like that in THIS case, but it's possible.

And if the teacher is tenured, or off probation, it's unlikely they would not be renewed, especially if the teacher is in a shortage area, like math or science.

My daughter that is in her class is actually my stepdaughter, but i claim her as my own. My son is MINE! And for whatever reason, he is the one being picked on. I spoke with an attorney friend of mine that works these types of cases and he says the proper precautions were not taken and that group of teachers should be broken up.This particular teacher is tenured, although if taken to court she could still risk losing her certificate. As of now, I'm just trying to get him into another school in the county and I'm giving the BOE a chance to try and accommodate this "special situation". If it's not corrected then they'll have a lawsuit, and I'll go public. I have been nice and frankly am tired of the crap and my child coming home crying from school because of this. My son is a great student and has always loved his school and teachers. You can't tell me that something isn't going on when her wakes up in the morning begging me not to send him and begging me to not send him to that school next year. All the adults in this situation need to be held accountable for this and have their eyes opened to the fact this wasn't just their personal life they were screwing with...it was others as well!!!

I hope that you can come back and let us know how this case progresses. I think it will be interesting to see how your town and this school handles it. I hope your son can talk to his counselor and get some things worked out. I hate to see this child be harassed.

So, are you divorcing your cheating husband as well?

It cracked me up to to see you type "he's innocent". So what, did she tie him down, take his clothes off and do the deed?
