Thank you all very much for the considerate replies. Alot of good advice and knowledge surfaced in this thread and I hope helped to clarify this code for others, as it has for us.

I did speak with my attorney regarding this matter and he, like the majority in this thread, stated the code would protect my wife and I regardless of whether or not the property was rented.

One poster above made note that this only holds true if only one party files for BK and the code would not protect those owners sharing said debt. My question wasn't necessarily related to the fear of BK, but that mention should be fully understood by those in such a position.

Again I am grateful for all of your replies and would thank you each individually but I'm on my way out the door.
