Terminating Father's rights

Even if the child is two years old, paternity was never established, the father admitted he did not want anything to do with the child and has had NO contact (incl. no child support) for TWO Years????

Why didn't MOM ever establish paternity? Why didn't mom file for child support? Why did MOM lie to the child?

sorry--You were right. I wasn't thorough enough in my response and I made the mistake of allowing my personal feelings to interfere with objective legal advice. I know, I know, that is a major faux pas. Since dad didn't want anything to do with the baby from the get, I felt whatever the legal "minimum" notification rules are in her state would suffice.

Here is the thing -- due diligence is not that low of a standard. She knows who dad is -- due diligence means she has to attempt to find him and if she can't then she can get court approval to serve by publication. HOWEVER because dad has NOT been legally established, she also MUST publish for John Doe in case he is found NOT to be dad. Keep trying and be a bit more specific and thorough. You will get there. You were not wrong you just weren't complete.
