What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? ND
I currently work at the good ol' Walmart and I recently reported to my managers that a fellow employee was sexually harassing me and it went up the chain all the way to the regional manager. They all said that he will not be fired but he is not allowed to speak to me unless work related and he has to stay away from me. That isn't really an issue, he works in back unloading the truck and I'm a sales associate.
I thought everything was fine until I find out from a supervisor (the lowest manager on the chain) that he overheard this employee telling others that he has a lawyer and is planning on suing me for lying and making this all up. He says he plans to sue the store as well. What do you think I should do? Should I bring this up with the higher managers or just wait and see if it amounts to anything?
I don't know how he can sue me for telling the truth...I just think he's making it all up to get me scared but if he really does have a lawyer, do you think the store would help me or would I be all on my own? I don't know how that would work. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Did this creep tell you directly that he will sue you and the store?

It's hearsay at this poiint, just be professional as always.

Keep track of the timeline, names, dates, places, when someone makes a comment such as you are reporting here.

I have not spoken to the employee nor do I ever want to again. Ever since it was reported to management, he hasn't said a word to me either.
Yeah, I hope it is just hearsay, I don't want to be sued for telling the truth. I don't know what he could sue me for to be honest. He wasn't even fired, all I know is that he was talked to by management. How is that grounds to sue Walmart and myself?

It isn't. Quit taking everything you are told at face value. He'd be laughed out of court if he tried this.

My suggestion to you is to completely ignore everything you hear about this man. Go about your day as if he did not exist. Take everything you "know" about him and forget about it. Don't say his name to anyone, don't acknowledge his presence or anything he says to anyone.

LET IT BE.;)
