I agree only a professional should diagnosis a child with ADHD, however, 6yrs old is not too young for the diagnosis...and actually the most common age for the diagnosis is 5 since that is when they begin kindergarden/school (which is when the most difficult concentration/behavior issues become apparent.)

CJane~ I think it's great how stepmom came off in the depo. ;)

I miss-read something on the ADHD site...onset of symtems UNDER 7 years....

CJane...this is the site...if you want a looksee....

I'd love to go, but Salem is an awful long way from Missouri!

Thankfully, I don't have to worry about SMom calling me names (at least to my face). We're very civil to each other, she even said in her deposition that she would describe our relationship as very civil, if not friendly. I really don't like her all that much, but I owe the kids civility.

And thankfully, when she IS snarky about me to the kids, my kids are pretty good at blowing it off. I have 7 sisters, so they're used to women baing catty and snarky about and to each other. They roll with it.

No, when she's on the stand, we're going to ask her (and him) why, if they're so concerned about this particular child's education they didn't bother to attend parent teacher conferences.

The other fun thing is going to be when we present the copies of the kids' report cards as evidence. SMom insists that on 'all' of the report cards, the teacher has expressed grave concern re: this child's behavior. All I see on the grade cards is "**** is a joy to have in class."

I'm actually starting to think this whole thing might be fun.
Good thing you can see the humor in it Cjane...I swear my nuttyX said the same things (& Whoops! She's been in every awards the school has since Kindergarden~ And she IS ADHD! LOL) I know the anxiety makes it almost unbearable...but in the end, in hindsight, some of it is really quite laughable!

If I couldn't see the humor in it, I'd go mad. I must admit though, when the SMom started talking about my kid being emotionally damaged, and having 'serious behavior issues', I wanted to reach across the table and strangle her. I had to console myself with the knowledge that when the kids are in my house, they exhibit NONE of the behaviors that she was describing. They're respectful, well behaved, helpful to each other and to me, complete their chore list at night with a minimum of reminders, and don't talk back.

All proof of course, that I'm a terrible parent.
