What is the name of your state? CA
I have been reading a lot of posts about AWOL experiences from other people, but none are really the same as my boyfriends. I need to know because I am pregnant and have heart problems, so this stress is really getting to me. So here's the situation.....
My boyfriend was in the Regular Army for 6 months, he went through Basic and AIT and was given his MOS and deployment date. In October he had some suicidal thoughts and starting isolating himself and disobeying his chain of command. The chaplain was contacted, but was unable to help because his company was noncoperative. He was on extra duty for an article 15 when he went AWOL. He has been AWOL now since October and has just recently missed his deployment date. Will these factors make it harder for him to get a discharge from Ft. Sill? Will he be sent back to his unit because of the missing in movement? Also, his recruitor told him not disclose his huge mental past when he joined the Army. Since the time he was 7 years old he was diagnosed with: Bi-Polar Disorder, Personality and Authority Disoder, Social Anxiety, PTSD, past 51/50's and suicide attemps, and severe learning disorders. He has seen a Psych since he has been out and has further been diagnosed with reaccurent depression and said to not be able to work anytime in the near future. He was put on meds for manic bi-polar and depression and given a referral to smoke marijuana legally as treatment (which he doesnt use). He wants to turn himself into Ft. Sill, but is very afraid he wont get a discharge because of his situation or will be returned to his unit. He wants to do this in the next couple days, but is very confused right now..... He wants to be able to get over here to take care of me and not have to hide anymore due to the heart complications I am having with this pregnancy. Thanks in advance for any helpful information.
