As already said kids do not care what day it is done on. Most kids I know(ton in my extended family who are in split households), think it is way cool to get 2 HOLIDAYS.
REALLY good point! Maybe I can point that out to Dad and see if it will change his viewpoint a little bit. If not, and it comes down to it will allow the little one enjoy the holiday, I will just do all holidays on an alternate day.

I remember having two of certain holidays, growing up, myself. It really was neat to do it first at one house (extended family, for me, since my father was an absent one) and then another day at my own.

I'm a Northern Girl
We've resolved the divorced-parents issue, and the married-child issue, all in one.

Our adult kids are with their Mom on Thanksgiving Day itself while we go to my foster family's house - these are family friends that I stayed with when I was in school and it was too far to go home for weekends and holidays. Then we take the kids out to dinner later in the four-day weekend.

Even numbered years we go to my parents in PA; odd numbered years we stay in MA where my husband's family is. When we're in PA, we spend Christmas Eve with my father and Christmas Day with my mother. When we're in MA, we spend Christmas Eve with my brother in law. The kids are with their mother Christmas morning and with us either during the afternoon or on Boxing Day.

Everyone knows where we're going to be when; no one's feelings are hurt; there are no unpleasantries about who gets what time. When my mother was still in MA and my father in PA, we did Thanksgiving with him and Christmas with her - now that they live only two miles apart we've revamped it, but we've done this ever since my younger siblings were in junior high (the youngest is now in his 40's) and ever since I was married. It can work.
