ok mr BS.. CALL the storr in hawthorne ca. ask them if they will cash out a gift card under $10, when they say no ask them if they will transfer
the balance on your e-gift card to plastic so u can use at gas stations...then. call the store in torrance ca and ask same 2 questions...and the law says "notwithstanding any of the store policy that upon request a giftcard must be redeemed for cash if balance is under $10"......
I'm glad you named stores that are relatively close to me. Now I KNOW it's BS.

It may be a hassle for a cashier to split tender a transaction with multiple means of payment but walmo cash registers are capable of doing it. Using the balances of say 8 cards up to complete a 70.00 transaction should not be a big deal and if any cashier even makes a face you are free to ask them if they would rather have to count out the 30 dollars in coins that you have in a jar out in your car ? SO follow through with complaints to your state or force them to accept multiple cards until you have consumed them even if its to buy toilet paper.

You do realize Walmart does have the right to refuse large amounts of coins, right?

Totally off-topic but: There was a man arrested and charged with stealing money from parking meters and he fought the charge. Despite his insistence that he was innocent, he was found guilty ... and he paid his fine in dimes and quarters.

That's hilarious

but just in case the discussion starts;

That's different. A government entity has a difficult time refusing piles of coins if they can at all but a private entity can make customers pay all in quarters, $2 bills, or puppy dog tales if they want to.

yes yes walmart is breaking california state law and no lawyers want to mix it up wit

One has to wonder why a person would have 60 $200 gift cards over a period of a year and why, since they utilize
so many gift cards why they don't simply use multiple cards combined to make purchase. This is highly suspicious and I suspect Walmart sees it the same.

Does the law allow a merchant to refuse to cash out the cards if there is a suspicion of a scam? Probably not but maybe Walmart is willing to risk the possible repercussions and relish the opportunity to defend themselves to the AG or in court.
i dont care if you think its suspicious. i told you my mother sends me an e-Gift card for walmart maybe about $200-300 a month each one is usually around $100..The law saysnot withstanding any policy of the store, any gift card, certifixate, e-Gift card with a balanxe of under $10 maybe redeemed for cash upon xustomer requests. i have been told to my face they WILL NOT REDEEM FOR CASH, a card under $10.00...i showed them where the law was stated, and they said NO. Also under the Terms and Conditions of the e-Gift card in the Walmart Help, walmart.com/help it says YES you xan use your e-Gift xard at gas stations simply print out the e-Gift and bring it into ANY WALMART STORE AND HAVE IT EXCHANGED FOR A PLASTIC CARD which you xan swipe at pump..i have been told to my face that NO WE WONT EXCHANGE IT FOR A PLASTIC CARD!...its beem about 18months now and the two stores that i am able to get to CONTINUE to refuse any time im brave enough to ask...i cant believe that all thw advice i get here is telling me im wrong, cant sue them, im all wrong, imnsuspicious,etc.etc..each one of the cards were purchased by my mom on her visa and you can see the HISTORY of each card on what and where it was spent..clothes and groceries at Walmart..thats all i got..i dont know what else to say or do..its horrible because alot of times when i asked to redeem a xard that was 5,6 dollars i could have really used it for bus fare..whatever..i dont understand it, but im not very smart either..just wanted to tell the people who wrote here you gave me absolutely ZERO help except one guy said only if the state wants to go after them, maybe..maybe what?..i dont know what an attorney genera is..he would get paid and i wouldnt. i think they should give me something...i do know what Unjust Enrichment is...but thats all..so thanks for nothing and thanks to walmart for kicking another man to the curb when he is already struggling...dsj

And really, you need to apologize for your rudeness and then thank EVERY volunteer who has responded to you (myself excluded - I'm in "Mom" mode, not "kindly volunteer" mode). Or would you rather just be known forever as That Whining WallyWorld Gift Card Wan ... oh never mind.

Dude, i told you long ago to contact the state ag. Rather than asking then what an attorney general is you continued to whine. Your continued lamenting simply shows you want attention. Ask your mommy for the attention you seek.

Walmart Continues.to follow the law..Hawthorne CA and Torrance stores..

well just thought i would let everyone know that Walmart Continues to Break Tbe Law by NOT redeeming a gjft card wben balance js under $10..period. Also they are breaking the T&Cs of the e-Gift card by saying.NO WE DONT DO THAT, when asked to transfer balance of e-Gift to Plastic Card for use at gas stations. i continue each time i go to bring one of my gift cards that has a few dollars on it to customer service desk..no..no..no
.we dont do that..i decided not to try to go to court because obviously from everyones feed back here i am wrong, and.Walmart wont loose. i just dont understand..except they are very very confident that they cant be defeated..i just came out of the store in torrance..i had an e-Gift card for $100 and i asked if theynwould transfer it to a plastic card, and they said NO. in the T&Cs of e-Gift it says "Print out your eGift Card amd bring it into ANY WALMART STORE and have balance.transfered to a plastic card...walmart.com/help/search/e-Gift...
i showed them..NO..NO..NO..
so thats.all i got..continuing to get put in my place by the man.

peace..

here is the link for e-gift ti plastic for gas stations. an e-gift xard is sent in email with a bar code a xard number and pin..u print it out shop, and at register they scan bar code..done..must have plastic to swipe at pump..thats part of sales pitch for e-gift cards. but they REFUSE,EVERY SINGLE TIME..people at customer service desk are always diffrrent. they dont recall me , ive only asked for plastic maybe 5 times since february 2016 and also maybe 8-10 times to redeem card under $10.00..i so wish someone else would do this to SEE they do not care if u show them the law, they REFUSE... here is the link..
