A toilet supply line in our condo came disconnected and caused water damage to 7 condos below and adjacent to us. This is a rental unit but not occupied at the time. Our ins. co. H06 policy said according to the AL Uniform Condominium Act of 1991 basically "to each his own". In other words we file claim for our damage and the 7 other owners file on their own ins. to recover their damages. THe HOA management company called a water extraction company at the time and all units were dried out and no furnishings were damaged. Today, 5 weeks later the HOA management sent us the invoices from the water extraction company for drying out all 7 condos and our condo for a total of $8000 they said we have to pay. Help! What are the specifics in the AL Uniform Condo Act of 1991? Our by-laws adhere to this act. (we feel terrible for what happened even though we are 400 miles away and didn't even hear about the problem until the day after it happened.) The HOA management company handled calling the vendor without notifying us.
