Or maybe the goverment should stay out of the LL business. Property rights and freedom go hand-in-hand. The goverment has no business dictating how you do business.
If you don't like it, do something about it instead of whining...

Don't know about you, but when people start demanding I go into my very slow action plan.
Which is fine... but that doesn't change the number of days required BY LAW to remedy the problem. PLUS it can be actionable in a court of law... If you want to wait a few days to prove a point, I hope it's worth the couple hundred bucks in a judgment...

Which still gets you no water for your wash.
By this point, it isn't about the water... It's about the principle... Screw the tenant, screw the LL...

Word of advice. Being polite and respectful works most of the time.
Wait a minute... You just stated you look at all tenants as if they're trying to screw you, and thus treat them accordingly... Now you want them to be polite to you?

Expecting your landlord to scour the yellow pages for a plumber to work on Holidays is unrealistic.
AGAIN... please read my previous post... IT IS NOT THE TENANT PROBLEM the repairs fall on a holiday. If the LL doesn't want to abide by state LL/T laws, GET OUT! They have NO business in the business...

A better approach would have been to ask LL to pay for a hotel of his choice over the weekend. It is less expensive and tenant can consider it a vacation.
Is this AFTER or BEFORE you treat them as scoundrels?

No court will award OP any funds. OP has been without water for less than 48 hrs. It is reasonable to have to wait till Monday and yes even Tuesday for hot water. Get real!!!

The point is that if you expect to be screwed, then you don’t allow yourself to be screwed. Low expectations= no surprises. It is unwise to demand when you are not in the position to do so. (Once again look at the time frame.)

I never whine. I contribute to the political party that best suits my needs.

And here I thought that was a third party.

Maybe not in your tenant world.
No agreement here.

All I have said is that the water is turned off in case they aren't aware... I plan on saying something today because ya know... it would be sort of nice to be able to flush my toilet, take a shower and give my cat water without having to buy bottled water.

Okay now i'm taking your comments less seriously... because my LL hasn't fixed the water leakage if I take a shower, i'm supposed to go on vacation??? Did you seriously think that one out before you typed it? I have to work. Apparently I need to come up with some serious money and fast (i'm guessing just for last month because unless my LL is doing something seriously sketchy she honestly might not have gotten last month's rent in the mail and just hasn't received this month's yet). I don't have vacation time... and I don't have money to go anywhere.

It's three days, how would you have liked to spend your hard earned money to pay for rent... and not be able to clean yourself or flush the toilet?? I'm just trying to figure out the best way to go about this - I very much doubt this is any circumstance to be shutting off my water, I have received no written warning... in fact the only way I found out my water was off is when I couldn't flush the toilet on Friday.

Thank you so much for anyone's realistic and constructive advice... not any landlord's dreams of what they would like to do to their tenants :) I didn't realize when I posted here that for the most part this is not a neutral/fair forum and I really appreciate the objective comments I have seen.

I'm sorry, I might've read something wrong... I wasn't looking forward to coming back to this forum and probably got defensive as I read through some comments, my LL should pay for a hotel in the meantime, is that what you meant?

I dunno, when LL left here all she said is to make sure the door is closed all the way when I take a shower but the water must've been shut off fairly soon because I used the bathroom not too long afterwards.

It might be reasonable in your state, but we are not talking about your state and LL/T laws are not "one size fits all". Funds HAVE been awarded for situations like this, and will continue to be awarded.

Than you need to be more active, because nothing has changed much...

Follow the laws of your states LL/T laws, or expect to be taken to court for failing to do so...
