 People change. And when I married her father and had our child he was giving the impression he was a responciple father and husband. That changed. I dont think this is a place for insults and attitude. Im trying to get some good advice. I didnt come here to be judged and ridiculed. I came here for help while I figure out how to protect my daugher from being HURT! But thank you. I hope that made YOU feel like a bigger person.
You didn't come here to be judged? What do you think a judge is going to do? Hold your hand and say, there there, how sad and then change your daughter's name? No. The judge is going to ask you why you think changing your daughter's name to that of a legal stranger is a smart move given your history. Things change. So what happens then? Seriously. You don't replace your child's father because you found a new bedmate.

You need to do what one poster suggested, and find out for your state the length of time for zero contact from dad..if he matches that, then you can file.

But dad DOES make contact...and you focus on the lack of. He is not an absentee dad. Plus, moving so far makes contact VERY difficult, you have to recognize that, as a judge will.
