What is the name of your state? florida

Hi, I am 22, dating a 16yr, Before I get all the boohoo, date some your age. Here is the story. We both have liked eacth other for a while, but never did anything becasue I didnt think her parents would be ok with it, She is very mature, I have a hard time believeing that she is 16, the 6 years between us doesnt bother me one bit, I believe its how mature the person is vs there actually age.and it turn out to be that the parents didn't have a problem with it ither. We been dating for over a month. But now people in are church are having a problem with it, and told her father that he could lose his job, becasue he works with the state, and also going to jail, For letting me date her. We are not, going to have sex. So its not even the issue, anytime that I was with her, was with her parents at there house. when some in the church told him this, he over reacted and stop every thing. It's really hurting both of us. I am just wondering what is the acutally state law in FL about a 22 year old dating a 16yr.

Parents are monarchs, their children are basically loyal subjects. If King Daddy or Queen Mommy says no, then no it is.

I forgot to say that she might be really mature, but there is something really off about someone your age who would deprive a 16 year old of her childhood.

Thats the thing, Daddy says it was ok, intill some one told him that he could go to jail for letting me date her. Im just trying to find out what the acutally sate law is in FL. If the parents say its ok. Is there anyone, anything can do about it.

and please im not robbing her of her childhood, This is what she wants more than anything. Intill you actually know how we feel about this. and you know the situations, and us personaly, Statements like that should be left to your self. I dont expect anyone to truely understand this. I Just want to know what FL state law is about this. I know there are other post on this subject, but there not in my state. If there is a web site with FL state laws on this matter I would like to know. Thank you

She is 16 dip****, of course she thinks she is in love and wants you more than anything. It's hormones.

It doesn't matter WHY the parents say no, their no is a good reason for you to back off.

And here's my standard answer to this type of question:

If you have to ask whether it's legal or not, then regardless of whether the answer is yes or no, it's a very, very bad idea.

If in doubt, assume it's 18.

She is just 16-that IS robbing her of her childhood. She's most likely caught up in this fantasy she doesn't even see of being in a relationship with someone older. You are old enough to graduate college, and she's, what, a high school sophomore? When you're her age, you don't see things as they are, and will overlook things to make a relationshiop seem perfect.

The best thing you can do for her is to be her friend. If you absolutely insist on being with her, come hell-or-high-water, talk to her father and the church about an official courtship. Old-fashioned, yes, but as safe as you can get while seeing her. Basically the two of you never alone, always chaperoned, no physical contact (eg kissing), amd you discuss with her father and/or clergy before suggesting to her you take the relationship any further. If you don't plan to have sex, then you shouldn't have a problem with courtship. And if you are always chaperoned (and this means someone older, mature, wiser, not a buddy), then no one can say you are being completely inappropriate.

But if at all in doubt, err on the side of caution and break it off. If you are meant to be together, you will end up back together in the end...after she is 18.
