What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NC
Hello, My wife and I currently provide car insurance and home for our daughter. She has limited use of one of our cars. Her natural Father wants to buy her a car. If he provides the car and the insurance, are her mother and I still liable in case she either injures herself or someone else in the car her biological father provides? If so, is it because she is my wife's daughter or because she still lives under our roof? Just what makes us liable? In time we wanted to get her a car but only after she's had plenty of time with the limited use of the borrowed car. I think it would also cut her insurance cost if she has a year or so of driving in a borrowed car before having her own. What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

It is POSSIBLE that mom could be liable since daughter is a minor. As long as sufficient insurance is maintained on the car, though, that should not be a problem.
