I'm sure some of the people here have knowledge that is helpful but not all. The problem is that once they become a so called "senior member" which is to say they respond to a large number of posts, they think they are an authority. Some have even asked probing questions, like why do I think I should get the entire inheritance. While they don't know the situation, the parents wishes, or even bother to read my post thoroughly. Cause they would've determined that it was my parents wishes. They just form an opinion in which to make fun of the situation. I came here to get genuine thought on the subject & so far all I got from thisd forum was criticism, one guy trying to get me to mail him $100 for his "ideas" & some info from a "lawyer" which was false & misleading, cause I checked with the State of New Jersey, Dept of Inheritance.
My dad & I continue to have terriffic times together despite his age, & we don't dwell on this stuff. It is his wishes that once he passes on that I, not my siblings, get what's left. We both want the least amount of hassle if & when that day happens. That is why he put all his bank account, securities, IRAs & annuities, TOD, POD, & beneficary to me. But the people here don't bother to read that!
Anyway what I want to know is after the passing of one parent, is it a good idea to have a lawyer redraw a new will, in which is mentioned, the passing of the spouse & specific REASON(S) why he just wants me to be his executor & sole beneficiary? The main "REASON" is he doesn't approve of their spending habits & nobody can question what he wants to do with his money. I'm going to do EVERYTHING to make sure his wishes are carried out. If anyone wants to answer here, don't question WHY just let me know HOW to do this. Please!! The estate is valued under the current $675,000 estate tax threshold for New Jersey
