It has already been established that they do not have a common law marriage. Neither of the two live with each other; they still live with their parents.

Sorry, missed that one.

Because she would be married. Doesn't the post say they want to file taxes together and would be common law married?
And the OP is the one who came here for advice and did not know the law... if you had read further in the thread you would have seen this is not something that would cause them to be common law married.

Point taken. Won't attempt to post on this site while also attempting to prepare tax crap - it winds me up every time! Lo siento.

There is A LOT MORE to common law marriage than just saying they are. Some states don't even have it> i am not speaking to CO because I don't know that but no they are not married.

As you said.. common law has a lot more to it than just saying... but yes CO does recognize common law but in this case it does not apply. MominMass needs to start getting her facts straight before she starts posting stuff she knows nothing about and confusing posters when they already have the answer.

I'm confused. These kids are already preparing to file taxes jointly so that they can get the tax credit for their child. Poster says this makes them common law married? Is that not true? Are you saying that a father still has to pay support for a child who is married?
Its not true that they are married. They can't file together. And yes the father still has to pay child support for the pregnant daughter. SHE IS NOT MARRIED!

Why? You need more? You see, I like short and sweet. I got my point across - - you're an idiot.

You are now dismissed.

It's also true that the father of the 17 yr old minor child still needs to pay his child support.

A child having a child doesn't mean she is emancipated; it also does not mean she no longer needs support.

From what? Your little spankings? I'm so disappointed. I thought you were more creative than that. Your old sadistic self-important blatherings are becoming tiresome. Get well soon.

Yea, Yea, Yea. I'm sitting here doing my taxes and looking for a little distraction. I said I am sorry, but I said it in Spanish. Here it is in English:
I'm SORRY.

Now here's a question for you. Who gets the tax credit for the baby, and why is the 17 year old girl and her boyfriend so preoccupied with that aspect of their situation? Shouldn't boyfriend be preparing for a child support order that will last longer than he's even been alive?
