Adverters and merchants pay for site exposure, whether it's to a search engine or a PTR site, they voluntarily pay people to allow their site to occupy the recipients screen. The PTR site and the search engine are merely liaisons. If everyone operated according to existing laws and by using common sense and ethics, it would be fine but PTR site owners have decided to bottleneck. They decided to keep the majority of the money or undercharge, thereby causing an imbalance in the process.

The recipient isn't getting "something for nothing." They are using their time and resources. Sometimes they invest money to upgrade which gives them added priviledges.

I realize there are people who do want something for nothing, many of them can be found investing in auto-surf ponzi programs and hyips.

Ideally, with Paid-To-Read, there should acceptable "consideration" on both sides. Some people choose to use their time online constructively to earn a little money, others choose to play games or download porn or go to chatrooms. I don't see that the majority of PTR members are scammers who want something for nothing.
