I signed a vehicle for someone. I never drove the vehicle, EVER!!! The woman I signed for had someone driving the vehicle with her as the passenger. They got pulled over and as the officer approached the vehicle he took off leading to a car chase. The offender jumped out of the moving vehicle and got away. The lady is saying she spent know the guys name. Fortunately, I sent a facebook message to a friend the same exact time the chase occurred with a reply and I answered back. Question is, do I need to have this transcribed by a professional and does the prosecutor DA have to have it before my court date in order for me to provide my proof. I won't have a lawyer, can't afford one, make too much for a court appointed, and don't feel I should have to sell my belongings for one. Btw, I was arrested after the 2nd time I went to the police station to inquire about the situation. Unreal that this has gone this far. Unbelievable!!!!!! I spent 10 years busting up my knees and elbows restraining inmates at a State prison and now I'm dealing with this. Smh. Hinesville, Ga

If you have been charged with fleeing police, you really should contact a criminal defense attorney. Say nothing to the police. Let the State prove the charge against you without your help.

The law: https://law.justia.com/codes/georgia/2017/title-40/chapter-6/article-15/section-40-6-395/

If you are accused but not charged with the crime, you should exercise your right to remain silent. You should say nothing to the police.

I am not sure what you mean when you say you "signed" for a vehicle. Is the car titled to you? Are you financing the car?

Also, yes I was arrested when I went to inquire about the situation the 2nd time I went there. I've been to court and pleaded not guilty. They have absolutely 0 evidence that it was me. Will be officers word against mine with my proof

Okay.

Well, she as passenger can either remember the name of the mystery person driving the car - or she can name you.

If she names you, or there are witnesses who might point to you as the driver or the one running away, you are in bigger trouble than you otherwise might be in.

Were there any injuries or property damage?

Your posting on Facebook really isn't evidence of much at all. You REALLY need an attorney...really.

The prosecution could have a difficult time supporting the charge against you, as unbelievable as your girlfriend's story is that she doesn't know the name of the person who was driving the vehicle.

But difficult is not impossible.

And if you and/or your girlfriend are found to be lying under oath, that brings a whole new set of problems.

I recommend you discuss the car incident and the charge against you with a criminal defense attorney in your area. What you say to the attorney about the car incident will be held in confidence and cannot be used against you.

Good luck.

She's not my girlfriend but yes, there is absolutely no evidence that the prosecutors have because I 100% wasn't involved. That's why I'm wondering if I need to spend 3500 on a lawyer. It's crazy I have to spend that kind of money for something I have nothing to do with other than being registered owner of vehicle. It's crazy the officer can get away with a warrant without proof.

There's no title but the vehicle is financed in my name
There is a title if you financed the car.

I think it is smart for anyone charged with a crime to at least speak to an attorney in their area before court. However it is up to you whether or not to do so.

Good luck.
