I still have the moneygram receipt where I sent this girl the money to pay her bank off with, though I wound up having to pay more than I actually owed her to avoid her taking me to court.

If she wanted to be just be mean or a b word, could she still take me to court?

And if so, would my receipt and the fact that her bank is now taken care of save me?
If not, how long is the statute of limitations on this?
The debt was repaid in September

Her account was $1800 in debt (not all of it was from my checks, but we had to write them in order to survive for a small while. We used to be good friends)

Also, I'm 19...so yes, I'm young and stupid.

yes, you should have gotten a wavier signed ... if she can win is another issue. But she can make your life rougher.

I'm not sure how to go about getting a waiver signed, or even where to do it.
I do have the moneygram receipt, and she paid off the bank within that week, so I don't think anyone would be naive enough to think it coincidence that her account was paid off after I sent her over a grand.

Restitution may be relevent in sentencing but it does not erase the original crime for which one may be charged. If you return the money after robbing a bank, do you expect to not be charged with bank robbery?

I guess you've never seen the warnings online about Moneygram and Western Union. Don't be so "proud" of having a Moneygram receipt.
